Whoa! I never thought you were..

Seeking Sanctuary
The only experience I have had with another person seeking sanctuary is with a friend of my younger brother. He was living in an abusive home with his younger sister. I knew this family because of their older sister who was my friend up until she left the home and moved out of town. I knew the things going on inside the walls of that home. I thought I was incapable of making an impact in helping them seek help. When my brother got into highschool and became friends with this boy, he made the situation known to my mom and a few other parents. With help from staff from the high school, they were able to get the kids out of the home and away from the abusive guardian and situation no kid should experience. Before we accomplished getting them out of the home, my home turned into a sanctuary for the kids. The came here when they were able to so they could get away from the tension of the house. My family had to be cautious on the things we did to others because we saw how those actions can get out of hand and carried away. We also wanted them to feel safe because they didn't feel safe inside their own home.
