The Conflict

A conflict scene that could be used for generating an academic dilemma would be when parents and their children have opposing viewpoints regarding politics. Personally, I have dealt with this dilemma for the beginning of my young adult life until current times. My parents are extremely conservative and Republican. Myself, I am more in the middle. For example, my views on LGBT is that, it is none of my concern or business who a person decides to choose as their significant other. I am especially in no place to judge. However, I also do not favor PDA, from straight or homosexual couples so I do not necessarily want public displays of affection occuring in front of me. My parents, believe that it is not natural and that it is a hormone imbalance. I do not know whether or not that is a proven fact or not, but I do believe that if it was a hormone imbalance, that fact alone does not make it a sin. This difference between my parents and I have made many conflicts arise between us. I would have friends that would come out as bisexual, and have relationships with the same sex. They wouldn't flaunt their relationship flamboyantly so I respected them and never judged them. My parents felt differently, they started to question my sexuality because all of my homosexual friends. Although I did see where they were coming from, I have always remained confident in my straight sexuality. My parents would also heavily judge and criticize my friends, making me quit frustrated with their behavior. In my eyes, my parents were acting more immature than a twelve year old. On the other hand, they have a right to viewing homosexual relationships the way they do.
