But get rid of the guns?

Personally, the second amendment and the topic of firearms is touchy when it comes to me. I am a stern supporter of the second amendment and the right to bear arms. I will never be convinced that the citizens of the United States should be stripped of the right to firearms. However, I am even more of an advocate for safety. I have gone through the process of barely renting a firearm to practice sharp shooting. I have seen first hand the process it takes to own a firearm. The training, background checks, and precaution that is taken to make sure the person buying th firearm is not going to wrongfully harm themselves or another. I have gone through NRA certifications and trainings, along with the rest of my family. My opinion is that guns are not the harmful thing, the person behind the trigger is the true enemy. Firearms do not seek out danger and they do not harm others on their own. However, a human will seek out danger and a human will wrongfully harm another human. Stripping citizens of their right to bear arms gives control to governments. The founders of the United States knew that regardless of the type of government, those who hold power have a chance to become corrupt and seek to rule. Just like the British did, trying to disarm the populace if the colonies. Like Adolf Hitler did to the Jews before the holocaust. It doesn't take much to comprehend that a disarmed nation is a controlled and manipulated nation. Noah Webster once said, " Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed, as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword, because the whole body of the people are armed and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States. A military force at the command of Congress can execute no laws, but such as the people perceive to be just and constitutional, for they will possess the power." Instead of getting rid of guns and opting for dog, an alternative and more effective solution is to remember gun control is about control not the gun itself.
