Who Will They Say I am in Five Years?


Me, In Five Years

 In five years, I’ll be twenty-two years old. I hope to be still in college, because I want to be and Agriculture Educator with an emphasis in animal science. I do not imagine it will take me five years or less to get to the end of my education. I imagine I will either be at Cal Poly SLO or Oklahoma State CASNR continuing my degrees and education. My “future self” will be responsible, charismatic, hard-working, and humble. I will put my career and education before immature and irrelevant things. I will have matured to the point where my career is not a dream but a plan. I believe this will take hard work, long hours and countless times of reminding myself of the result of success and where my hard work will get me. A growth mindset is how I would describe my current mindset. I believe this because when I face difficultly or failure, I do not process it as an obstacle, just another chapter on my learning curve. I trust in the process and always learn from mistakes and failure. Helping me achieve my goals wouldn’t necessarily require a change in mindset, rather a growth and strengthening of my current mindset. I would like to grow and strengthen my mindset to a point where there is no ounce of doubt or second guess when it comes to the plans and standards I set. I would like to see myself set a goal and stick with it strictly to the end when I have reached my desired success. Then, after I have successfully reached my goals, I want to push myself even further. Seeing myself constantly growing, even after all of my goals and plans have become a reality, is my ultimate goal.

Remedial English & Math In my opinion, remedial English and math classes should be eliminated from community college curriculum. I have formed this opinion based off knowledge after reading about students that are unable to succeed in the California community college system because of broken remedial education systems. According to College Campaign, 75% of all California Community College students are tested and placed into these remedial courses, teaching and focusing on basic skills. Students talk about getting caught up in courses based off curriculum focusing on teaching basic skills but prevent them from entering college level curriculum. Guns Personally, the second amendment and the topic of firearms is touchy when it comes to me. I am a stern supporter of the second amendment and the right to bear arms. I will never be convinced that the citizens of the United States should be stripped of the right to firearms. However, I am even more of an advocate for safety. I have gone through the process of barely renting a firearm to practice sharp shooting. I have seen first hand the process it takes to own a firearm. The training, background checks, and precaution that is taken to make sure the person buying th firearm is not going to wrongfully harm themselves or another. I have gone through NRA certifications and trainings, along with the rest of my family. My opinion is that guns are not the harmful thing, the person behind the trigger is the true enemy. True Grit

My Grit On a level from 1-10, my grittiness would be a weak 8. I say this because I am determined but lazy. I get all of my responsibilities and tasks done with full effort and by my deadlines. However, I put my responsibilities off until the absolute last minute. It's quite the cliche, but I truly believe I do my best work when I am in a hurry. I wouldn't give myself a 9 because I am very lazy and irresponsible with how I prioritize aspects of my life. For example, if I have homework that is due in a week, I will probably not touch it until a few days before the deadline because I thought a nap was more of a necessity. I will not give myself a 7 because I have so much determination to see myself get where I want to be and become successful at what I am passionate about.
